KS Cruise Control Cable

I have this cable, although I'm not sure what year of truck it came out of. It is probably out out of a pre-Vortec truck. These are a real bear to remove from the control module without cracking the tabs. I broke about three cables before I removed this one successfully.

Based on the following links, there are two cables:

1988-96 15985837
1996-99 15734164

There appears to be an overlap in 1996. I wonder if that means they are interchangeable.
