was a lot of am radios back then and motor noise was a problem. Grounding the hood fixed a lot of it. you can take an older vehicle and raise the hood with the engine running on a am channel and you will see what I am talking about. We put condensers on the alternators too. Chevrolet had bulletins out the yen yang on radio static

I remember this now.

I bet you precharged a condensor and left them laying on the work bench.
