battery draining problem

my battery keeps draining, what is the easiest way to troubleshoot what is draining it . ive got a volt- ohm meter

Here is how you check it. Disconnect the negative battey terminal. Put a test light in between the battery terminal, and the cable. (in series)

Now if you have a battery drain, the light is going to be on. Now start disconnecting things, like your alternator, and start pulling fuses, 1 by 1. Eventually the light will go out when you pull the right fuse, or pull off the right wire. Just keep an eye on the test light, and do one at a time.

That is the quickest way to narrow it down.

(had a friend that couldn't find his drain, I showed him that, and we found it in 2 mins. Damn aftermarket electric choke.)

That is the way to do it.

You can also do it from under the dash. Pull the fuse out. Now on the fuse holder, touch the aligator clip to one side and the point of the test light to the other side of the fuse clip. Make sure that you have everything off (like the dome light, aftermarket radio with a clock)when you are doing this. It will light when you find the circuit that has the short.

Now, does your horn work? I can't tell you how many dead batterys after 3 days I have had because the horn relay has gone bad. If you don't have a working horn, start there.
