Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Installed new alternator and battery, scrubbed its Patina`d paint yesterday with LSR and brightened both our day, hope to save the paint and repair cab rust without outer rocker damage this spring/summer ??

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

I drove mine Friday for a bit! It was really, really, really nice, and I had to drive it some.

I still have a polished Powermaster alternator to put on,and I'm going to do some painting and detailing under the hood in the near future.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Grounded everything to everything with several new stainless straps. made some grounding points inside the cab. Went through part of the caprice wiring harness yesterday and pulled out the Heat and AC controls and wiring out. Laid all the wiring out, hooked the battery up and started it.

I also hooked up the Borgeson steering joints after I painted them. Modified the column bracket so it would hold the column down lower in the opening to clear the brake booster. Busy day, but it started and I met my March 1st goal...

I agree, including the smell of dirty brake fluid on your clothing and hands (or in your hair)!

No harm... was just wondering...
I like GM trucks... even the ugly new ones you can't work on without $10,000 worth of computers and such...
No harm meant to the tad pole...
Heck, I was a tad pole 30 to 40 years... well I was a kid once too.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

In the process of doing a bad rattle-can job on PJ; nowhere near done, but wer're going over the lower part & panel in white; yeah I know we did the colors in backwards order, but we don't care. It's just to shut the neighbors up.. I'm too short to reach the center of the hood, and we ran out of paint; so we are going to do the roof black and the rest of the hood.. lol

we're in the process of tearing down the engine now too; Turns out it was a 400 SBC with a 283 intake manifold. We thought it was the original engine all this time too. Oh well; we can't sell it as all original now.. lol
We're highly considering selling the truck to focus on the Jeep (see sig)

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Old iron just has a personallity the new lifted to the sky with all the best parts trucks just don't have. One of my buddy's bought a new Gm truck last year, did a 6" lift/35" tires and said it just isn't as cool as my 76/3/4 ton with the same lift and tires. Yep he is right. Old skool is cool.

Yeah I guess but anything newer than a 79, for me at my age, is late model.
I drove a 67 GTO in high school, had a 70 GTO as my daily driver when I got married...
Drive what you got, love what you drive...
Build it your way and don't knock someone for building it their way...
This is what I tell myself when I see a ride that I think is as ugly as my ex old lady...
Shoot! I even heard of guys that like those Asian made tin cans... !!??
Imagine that!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Ugly cars from when we were young are now the only ones left to afford to build these days, even 4 door cars, got to hold on to what we have before we have an ugly cool truck or car.

Well I spent the day doing income tax so I could scare up a little extra hobby money, and talked to my son about borrowing his buffer again so I can get started polishing the new windshield trim.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Played around with photochop on some design ideas I have floating around and I drove the Vette a bit today envisioning what the truck will be like some day soon. Sun was out, but 45 keeps the roof on a but longer.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Although it never quite got up to freezing today, the roads were dry so I got to take the truck out twice before the next storm shows up tonight. On the weird side, when I climbed in tonight the fuel gauge bulb was out. Since the gauges are all relatively new, it seemed odd the bulb would burn out so soon.

After pulling the socket, it was discovered the bulb had actually fallen out of the holder into the gauge housing. After a few minutes of struggling, the bulb was recovered and reinserted into the socket. Amazingly it was a very snug fit, so I have no idea why it fell out in the first place.

The only rational answer is that the truck just wanted some attention!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Got heater box painted and purchased new blower motor. Took out radiator support, grill, etc...supposed to get inner fenders back from blaster today. Time to weld.....taking steel wheels to blaster, time to paint...got my new Champion radiator in the other day - I can't wait to get some of the rusted out steel welded and painted so I can install it!

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Finally got my engine running smooth. Put on a new vacuum advance mechanism after recently rebuilding the carb and got everything tweaked for a smoother running engine. Also installed my new LED tail lights.

Re: What did you do to your truck today?

Wired in the new Alpine head unit. I went with blue tooth as my galaxy phone can stream pandora to the head unit. As I filled the stock hole for an antenna , and the in dash units dont work well, on top of that we only get a few stations up here any ways. That and the USB for the thumb drive I can listen to what ever I want.. Now for speakers HA HA
