Re: What size wheels and tires on the 66?

Love the way it is. Lowered I like 18 20 combo or something like that. But stock height I like the slightly stock look of the rally wheels. BTW I have the rally wheels on my c10. Most definitely my favorite until I can afford some American Racing Torque thrust Originals.

Looks like the bore necessary to go over the rear is 3.5 inches or bigger. The ones listed above come as 3" bore......too small

Re: What size wheels and tires on the 66?

72 Freak, I am in the same boat, I want bigger wheels and no rubbing. So far I have come to the conclusion that backspacing is very important when sizing wheels for our trucks. Those American Racing Torque Thrusts have 5.5" backspacing. The stock wheels are about 3.5". Meaning you would have to run spacers. Personally I don't want to run spacers. I have had tire shops tell me that they won't work on a vehicle with spacers because 95% of the time when a wheel falls off a vehicle it is one with spacers. I am looking at these wheels http://aewheel.com/wheels_detail_specs.cfm?id=23 but I have't figured out what size/backspacing will be right. My current combo is 15x8 with 3.5" backspacing running 32x11.5 tires. They rub a little on the outside with a full load so I am looking at either more offset (4" or maybe 4.5) and maybe a slightly narrower tire.
This site is good for comparing tires because it gives the section width. Section width is the width including the bow in the side of the tire, so you can tell if it will rub on the edge. http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp

Big City, Do you ever carry a load in that beautiful truck? It looks like those tires might rub slightly.

Re: What size wheels and tires on the 66?

From what I am finding...I have just about decided to just drop the truck a bit and leave the wheels untill they do make a 6 lug grey torq thrust that will fit.
