I drove her for the first time in many months last night. Apparently the carb wasn't too happy with sitting for 6+ months. So now I've got to rebuild it before I can get it back on the road.

Buttoning up the rear brakes Sat AM and wiring my temporary trailer lights until the bed is finalized.

More pics to be added Sat afternoon. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!

I've got my eye on a couple of really clean ones. It's a matter of me finding the time to pick one up, then drop it off at American Stripping Co. to strip and prime.

Ran the fuel line, installed filter and filler tonight. Tail lights are now wired and I've got functioning turn signals, brakes, and signals!

I need two braided lines for the rear brakes, bleed them and I should be good to go.

Driver's side axle seal started leaking last Friday. Pulled the cover tonight and found some metal shavings. Removed the axles and found that the metal flakes were coming from behind the ARP studs from when they were installed. Cleaned both axle tubes out with brake cleaner, some rags, and a mop handle. Hosed out the diff and put it back together.

Baby steps.

Nothing wrong with a long bed! I have one but not doing as much as you are. Nice job on the frame work. How do you keep tha floor so clean a little OCD going on? Hope you got your money back on the parts that didn't work.

Thanks Frank. And no, you're not the first person to make OCD comments. Everything has a specific place! Right?

I ended up taking a bath on the CPP garbage, but I was expecting that. I ended up CL'ing the kit and got $450 for something I paid close to $900 for. Couldn't stand the thought of putting anymore of their stuff on this truck, and will only use Wilwood for the front.

It's all good. Lesson learned.

Gentlemen, last night was huge for me! Nate helped me with a one-off set of conical bushings, a little thinner than what he sells with his kit. Perfect for his trailing arms, and the CPP carrier xmember.

Tightened up the trailing arms, bled the brakes, and sealed the fuel cell. After a full tank, I went out for the maiden voyage. I'm loving the 3.08's and this 4 speed on the freeway. Rolling at 80MPH was great and I didn't feel like I was kiling the motor.



Now I need to look into setting the thrust angle. I've got the trailing arms adjusted all the way in now, so it may be as good as it's going to get.

Looks really good. Are you running a four on the floor? I got to get that 3.08 rear end in mine soon. The 3.73's limit me to about 60mph without killing the motor.

Got her tucked in tonight for the first time in many many months. Wet sanded the back of the cab and ordered a set of re-pop'd hood hinges today.

I think I've found my bed. The guy claims it's a 9.5/10, no extra holes and the floor is solid (metal). I'll probably go pick that up in the next couple of weeks and get it blasted by American Stripping Co. in Sacramento.

Making some progress. Kind of feel like she's had a butt lift and tummy tuck, but still has a buckled face and jacked teeth.

I know what you mean. My passenger side door has what I like to call a bad scar, an area where the repaint has peeled of revealing the original red paint. Luckily I have decided that when I get her painted I will go with the original red.

Don't wait to get it repainted, knock down the white and red with 1k wet grit and rattle can over it with some white primer. Sand it down and you'd be surprised how much better it will look....

You should just only look at her from the back. I'm only going to look at mine from the front until I get the rest of the paint done. It's the only reasonable way to be happy. Seriously though, it'll be a shame to get a bed on there to cover up all that nice work. Plexiglass bed floor???
