I am working on taking the bed apart. So far I have a bed removed from the chasis and a wheel well removed from the bed assembly.

There appears to be a weld that connects the bed floor to the rear corner posts. The welds appear to need to be cut out to seperate the bed from the sides. Is this true?

Also, has anyone had any success beating dents out of the bed floor?

Yeah, the welds need to be ground out. I pounded some dents out of a bed floor. That is some really thick steel. I also used my stud gun with the strongest studs the paint supply store had....Flipping the bed floor over on flat concrete and applying a little heat with a torch and some light work with a hammer worked the best.

Good luck on cutting those welds, you will need it. A 8" cutting wheel on a grinder might work.

I used a 4" cutting wheel on a die grinder to cut most of the way though, then an air chisel to finish the job. Just be sure you have all of the bolts out that are under the stake pocket area. It was pretty easy.
