My 69 C-10 Pickup
Hey:
I bought a 69 C-10 pickup about 2 weeks ago and I went under the truck to take a look around. Discovered that the truck apparently has had a different rear half welded onto the front half. The doer of this deed cut slices in one of the cross frame members in order to get the driveshaft to fit. I have images of the undercarriage. Could you guys take a look at the pix and tell me what exactly is attached to the front half of the truck. Is the rear half another C-10?... it has leaf springs instead of coil springs! Anyway...ya'll know a lot more about this than I do. Jim M. That's wild. Was the truck in as serious accident at some point in it's life? Which half is the original?

Did you try checking your option sticker in the glovebox for leaf springs? The pics you posted looks like what I have under my 72. Is it a shortbox or longbox? Maybe the previous owner shortened it? Seems the previous owner also converted from a 2 piece driveshaft to a one piece and found it was too low to clear the crossmember opening.

the rearend,shocks,springs look correct for your year,the glove box says 127"wheel base,witch means you should have an 8'box .if it is still an 8'box then it may have been in an accident and repaired.and if you have a 6'box then someone shortened the frame. as best as i can figure anyhow, oh yea,is that a 2x4 piece of wood under the bed floor?

your truck is SUPPOSED to be a long bed, and if the wheel base is 115 inches, its been converted to a shortbed (even though you say the 3/4", factory shortys were 115)

According to your option list, your truck came with leaf springs. It is looking more like someone shortened the frame.
