Rear drum lock up, HELP !!!!!!
I just replaced the right rear drum, and cylinder. The problem I am having is that after a few miles of driving and use it feels like I am driving with the parking brake on, and the brakes smell and smoke really bad. When they cool down they are OK again. Did I adjust the brakes too tight, or is there another problem?

wheel cylinder needs replaced, or parking brake cable is stuck and frozen

Wheel cylinder is brand new. Brake cable is not frozen. I checked that first. I bled a little from the line with no pressure on the peddle. Took it for a spin, and the problem seems to be solved. The brakes are a little softer, but still work well. I guess they don't need to be as tight with the power brake system. I hope this was a permanent fix though, we'll see.

They might be too tight. Jack up the back and turn the wheels by hand. You should get about only one full revolution out of the wheel before friction causes it to stop.
