1972 Fire Truck!!

I am a Volunteer EMT on My Local life squad, and I was over at the Firehouse Last night, They have a 1972 C-20 w/ a Utility Bed on it. I 've Known about for years, But Never looked At it, It is Super Nice, They Bought it brand new, from a fire equipment company,Special Order it is 4x4 w/ a Dually rearend has 14,362 miles on it, has been garaged it's whole life. NO RUST!!! Do you Believe that!!!! They use it for There Brush Truck, So it does get used, but only for Duty, No One Takes it home. Well, I took Pics, and I will Post them Soon, I am So Excited about that truck!!!

the 72' burb I bought was an ex-fire department truck, from some department in Tennesse. I was sold in 97 with 34,000 miles on it I bought it with 55,000 last year. I bought it from the second owner, but it had been stripped while it was sitting at the bodyshop when it was waiting for a re-paint. so all the front sheetmetal and the front doors were gone. I thinking of bringing it back with the original FD markings.

Thumbs up

OLD FIRETRUCKS ARE COOL, I HAD A 70 1 TON 4X4 FOR QUITE A FEW YEARS. IT HAD EXTRA LEAVES IN THE SPRINGS (13 TOTAL & KINDA FELT LIKE THE AXELS WERE WELDED TO THE FRAME) & 4.56 GEARS. IT WASN'T VERY FAST, BUT WHAT A BULLDOZER. I PUT A 9' FISHER SNOW BLADE ON IT & USED IT AS A FARM TRUCK. THE FIRE DEPT. USED IT TO FIGHT FIELD FIRES & HAD A 1000 GAL. PORTABLE PUMP THAT THEY PUT IN THE BACK. IT ONLY HAD 27,000 MILES ON IT, BUT I FIGURED THEY HAD TO BE THE ROUGHEST 27,000 IN HISTORY. THINK ABOUT IT. ALWAYS LOADED, FIRED UP & DRIVEN AS FAST AS IT WOULD GO, WITH NO WARMUP, & A HEAVY LOAD, ALWAYS BY SOMEBODY DIFFERENT THAT DIDN'T OWN IT, OVER SOME OF THE ROUGHEST TERRAIN AMAGINABLE. I BOUGHT IT WITH A SIEZED MOTOR. IT SEEMS THEY WERE FIGHTING A FIELD FIRE, A RAN A "T" POST THRU THE OIL PAN. IT WAS EITHER LET IT SET THERE & BURN, OR DRIVE IT OUT. THEY DROVE IT OUT. GREAT OLD TRUCK. LOST CUSTODY OF IT IN A DIVORCE. (ALONG WITH EVERYTHING ELSE I OWNED THAT WAS PAID FOR A WORTH ANYTHING)

Ouch on the divorse loss...d@mn.
AWSOME on the truck find. i love seeing old fire trucks...
We had an '80 Chevy 4X4 fire truck come into the shop just last week, it only had 12K on the clock. I swear it almost had the new car smell...at 22 years old.

One thing about Fire trucks and ambulances is that,
"You know they did regular service to them"
