`85 K5 Blazer w/TPI - "High-Tide"

Just thought I would post my K5 for those of you that may want to check out a TPI conversion.

I just got done the motor and breaking it in in the pic. Not completely done as far as cosmetics go on both the motor and the body. Once the motor is broke in, I'll finish up the cosmetics, pull the front clip off and put a 91 on.

For specifics:

5.7 - .30 over w/ mod'd 516 castings & Magnum roller rockers. Ton of other mods and gracious amount of chrome & aluminum. Took forever to glass bead everything..

700R4 - B&M shift kit, corvette servo, deep kool pan, etc..

TPI - pieced together. The main parts (runners/plenum/intake/wire harness) came from an `86 IROC. Converted the MAF harness and setup to a speed density system (730 comp-eprom)

She's kewld by a 19" flex Fan (reverse rotation) and an aftermarket 4 core radiator.

Differentials - 10bolt corporates - 4.88's with the Yukon hd Axles and Detroit True-tracs.

Body/suspension - 6" EZ-ride suspension with 8 (2 @each corner) Pro Comp 9000s shocks. -

alot more to list but bored you enough...

If anyone has any questions about the conversion, Feel free to ask..

What kind of cam specs on the engine? Hows she run for ya?

I've got a tuned port setup I've been working on for quite some time now as well, just needing a set of injectors (on the way), and possibly an IAC valve before I can start tuning it.

Nice serp setup BTW, I just found the exact same setup for my truck the other day, LOL

Re: `85 K5 Blazer w/TPI - "High-Tide"

The cam specs are pretty mild @ 268 dur. & 440 lift on 112 centerline (advertised). The 1.6 rockers though help out and still keep the manifold vac. in the 14-16 range. I went with 4.88's to compensate for the 36" TRXUS radials.

Tell ya what, you won't be disappointed with the conversion as far as throttle response and how smooth the power is. When you step on it, you know it's there. I've surprised a few imports at the stop light already. A big azz hunk of steel like that leaving a "bling'd" out civic is something you have to experience.. LOL

That serp set-up is from an `89 TPI Camaro. I stuck a 200amp alternator on it. The P.S. pump is from the camaro also. The hipressure line bolted right on to the steering box but had to bend the return line a lil to keep it from kinking the rubber line. I added the a/c delete pulley and AIR pump pulley. I did get the A/C compressor from the camaro also but the lines were junk. As soon as I get them and the motor is broken in, I'll put the A/C back in.

Re: `85 K5 Blazer w/TPI - "High-Tide"

Sounds just like my setup, cept it came off an 89 TBI 305 powered Pontiac of some sort. I found the AC delete on a different truck, and after doing some re-routing, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the brand new belt I had bought for my last slightly jerry rigged setup fits perfectly!

I do need to go back today to get the crank and waterpump pulleys. I had the two from a truck TBI setup, but apparantly they sit too close to the engine. I just hope that the new pullies are the same diameter so my belt will still fit, lol

And yeah, just even how it sits I am impressed with the throttle response! My cam is slightly milder than yours is (262 duration, .434 lift, 110 centerline advertised) but with the 110 LSA, I'll definitely be having issues with a rich idle...
