Need to paint my headliner trim. Does anyone have any suggestions on what type of paint is available. I have used so called chrome paints before and the best I got was a silver finish.

I can understand why you don't won't to buy new trim - it's danged expensive. But, you won't like the looks of "chrome" paint. Like you said - it's all just silver paint. I thought about the same thing - but finally just bit the bullet and got new trim.

There are places that re-chrome plastic, but from what I've seen, it's about the same price as new.

I bought some of that stuff to spray inside my taillight housings and it is sort of shiney at first, but if you rub it at all, it starts to rub off. Very Disappointed.

I need the trim too. but first I too am going to try to paint them. I'll rough them up with scotchbrite pads, wipe them with thinner (to remove any armorall) and paint with chrome bumper paint.
I don't expect it to look as good as the real thing but I can do it for about 5 bucks in about 30 min. not bad compared to 70-80 bones for the repro trim. right now there are too many other things to buy for the truck with the extra money. maybe new trim will be higher on the list in a year or two. anyway - I'd say try it, what do you have to loose?

They get ya on this one, I heard of some paint that they use on model car plastic parts but it like $69 a can. Guess it's new trim on this one.

Here's something that might be worth a try. Bare-Metal Foil makes a self-adhesive metal chrome foil for use on model cars. It's $5.00 for a 6 x 11.75 inch sheet, so two sheets might be enough to do the trim. I'm thinking of getting some to try on the chrome areas of my instrument bezel.

Anybody use this stuff before?

Chrome paint is always silver if you want a cheap way out, I would do what johnyp suggested. I know for a fact they sell the chrome ROCKER PAPER at AutoZone ect. It is around $10 a roll, and if you take your time it will look very good. I have used this foil paper for handcut stickers for moorcycles and stuff like that.
