You'll need to get the booster, bracket and pedal rod from a 67-72 truck.... I don't believed you'll have to change the master cylinder, although I'm not absolutely sure... someone on the board should be able to confirm...???

try www.julianos.com for new shoulder belts.....

First off, did you win the race? Shoulder harnesses work from s-10 pickups, might be a little tight, but you can fab up a bracket to raise the female connector up some.

Here's a thread...

first things first i did win the race it was a early 70's gmc and i beat him pretty bad. second of all i had to put a 2 inch block in the back and a 1 1/2 inch block in the front of the seat so that i could put subs under the seats so s10 prolly won't work if theyre already tight. third mine is a 69 and it doesn't hav a booster so what year in 69-72 do they start boosters?

Does a brake booster and shoulder harness make it legal to race? I'm guessing the race happened on public property and that is why you aren't driving.

If you want to make the brakes safer, you should consider converting the front drums to discs. If you do, you'll have much better brakes than drums on all four corners. There are several ways to source the parts, some more expensive than others.

We had a saying back in the '60's...."Speed costs money. How fast to you want to go?" Only thing is this: however much you THINK it is going to cost will have to be multiplied by 4. Good luck.

power brakes was an option, any 67-72 could have optional power brakes

i didn't realize that it was an option i figured that a year either had it or didn't my fault, also my dad is paying for the shoulder harnesses and brakes so what do u think is better discs without a booster or 4 drums with a booster?

if you're doing much racing, I'd say discs.... but for normal use, drums are fine.

Power drums will be fine.... I guess you can get newer style brake shoes (kevlar?) that don't fade as much as the old style... that should help. Just make sure the rest of the braking system is in good shape while you're at it...

You can get a new booster and master cylinder at your local Advance Auto Parts store for about $110. Then all you have to do is find the bracket and push rod that goes to it. I'd be willing to bet you could get that on the parts board. Or just search the bone yards for one, thats what I did. Got what I needed for $5. Then entire thing costed $130.
-$110 Master cylinder and booster
-$5 bracket and rod
-$15 case of beer

Guess you could save yourself the extra $15...He he he

I would just go to the junkyard, find a truck with power brakes, and take all the brake-related parts from under the hood. That should give you everything you need to convert. BTW, power brakes won't make your truck stop that much faster, but they will make it easier to press down the pedal . Good luck!

So who took the truck away? How are you going to put the parts on if you dont have it? Is this a legal thing or a parent thing?

Flush out the ones in the cowl with a garden hose, make sure that when you run water thru the cowl it flows out the bottom of the truck nicely, Check under your doors to see that the holes there are clear, etc etc etc.
