Lightbulb Ugliest Dash ,,,,, Beginning of an idea !!

After winning the great honor of having the ugliest dash award, I decided to work on an idea i've had for awhile. I got a piece of srap wood and cut it to the same shape as the glove box and instrument cluster. If I decide to go with woodgrain I figure I can get an extra piece for the glove box and cut it or it could be painted. What y'all think ????

Not a bad solution. I think I would go the other direction with it... basically the same shape but upside down and bigger to fill the whole area. Keep us posted!

XXL ,,,,,,, That was my first thought too , so this is the first one I made. Maybe if I cut it a little smaller it would look better !!!

Any other ideas for us guys that don't have a full shop would be greatly appreciated.

I like the looks of the first pic, but maybe just a bit smaller on the wooden piece. It has a more symmetrical look than the upside down version. Here's a thought that just crossed my mind, how about cutting down an old glovebox door to that size? It would be some metal work, but it would also set the front out just a little more, which would make more room for the stereo unit. I can also visualize a different ashtray, if needed, or maybe a popout style cupholder, a clock, or other guages. Hmmmmmmm..........................

I hid a massive rectangular hole that someone butchered in where the radio goes on my truck using a piece of the polished aluminum tread plate that Lowes sells. Looks really good too. You could use that on the glove box and speedometer bezel too if you wanted. It's 1/8" thick. Just another option...

Not bad - I'm not the wood kind of guy but I like the 2nd pic better out of the two. I'd probably just go with an overisized rectangular piece of metal or aluminum, just big enough to cover the radio area. You could also round the corners of it to match up with the shape of the ashtray. Good luck
