Who all has air ride????? Who has rear disk brakes??

I need some pics and maybe a rough cost involved. I heard you could do it to one of our rides for around a grand. I already have drop spindles and the rear c-notch. Do the tubular a-arms help alot and were is the best place to buy them. Air ride tech. is way to expensive for me but are they worth the price? Are they the only ones that have digital contols and guages? How much better ride will I get from the air ride? Also, were is the best place to get a rear disk brake conversion and does anyone have some pics of this? Thanks in advance.

Re: Who all has air ride????? Who has rear disk brakes??

Both of my trucks are air bagged with A.R.T. I am very impressed with the ride quality of air bags... Very smooth.. on the blazer I have the upper and lower Strong Arms, I think they give it a clean look. My 62 has the stock suspension with the drop spindles and bags, it rides nice too, but I am going to get a Porterbuilt dropmember and Strong Arms for that as well. The Air Ride Technologies stuff is expensive but it is well worth it in quality, reliability and customer servive. PM Porterbuilt he is a dealer for them and gives boardmembers a discount......

If you wanna do it right AND save some coin- *****************

Rear discs on the cheap and easy- steeltechsolutions.com

Do a search on suicide doors; you'll see how good their stuff is. Never seen a bad thing written about them.

Steeltech is in my opinion the best solution to rear discs. Brackets are inexpensive and use GM parts you can get anywhere- No custom one-off unobtanium crap.

He is looking for the most economical way of bagging his truck, or that's how I read it ... and I think bolting the bag directly in place of the coil spring would be the most economical.

Most economical, in my opinion:

2 Firestone 2,600 lb bags - 1/2" port- (front - $70 each)
2 Firestone 2,500 lb bags - 1/2" port - (rear - $70 each)
50 feet of line - ($30)
2 Shrader valves (1 for front - 1 for rear) - (approx $8.50 each)
2 Lower A-arm cups - 2 Upper plates - (front lower/upper) ($60)
4 90 Degree PrestoLok fittings (1 per bag) ($6.26 each)
2 "T" PrestoLock fittings (1 for front - 1 for rear) ($11.54 each)

Total: $435.12

This is not counting misc. grade 8 bolts, nuts & washers from Tractor Supply ... maybe another $10-$15. And another $20 or so for a piece of 4" - 4 1/2" OD pipe to make the C-notch.

For the future to make fully "self contained":

1/2" Starter kit - ($700)
Contains:
* Viair 450 or 380 Compressor (You Choose)
* 5 Gallon 8-Port Tank
* 8 SMC 1/2" Valves
* 10 Switch Box (You choose color)
* 2 Airlift Dual Needle Gauges
* 1 Airlift Single Needle Gauge
* Pressure Switch
* 30/40 Amp Relay
* 50' of 1/2" DOT Airline for bags
* 50' of 1/4" DOT Airline for gauge

EDIT: Prices pulled from ***************** website.

Yeah, I want to see some pics. I already have the c notch and the drop spindles on the front. My thinking is that with the 295/40/20 out back that I can't go much lower than I am now. I don't want to notch my bed or mess with my front fender wells. Here is how low I am with my static drop. You think air ride will get me muck lower?[ATTACH]Name: kade%20002.jpg

Re: Who all has air ride????? Who has rear disk brakes??

What size tire do you have in the front? Do you like the way it rides with the low profile tire? I have a new set of 20x8.5 and 20x10 boyds, but I still need tires. I can't decide if I want to bag it first or put the new wheels on it. There are a few blazers that are bagged on here. I'm sure someone will add a photo or two.

I think it rides pretty well. It is a little rough on some of the tar and gravel roads we have around but all and all I like it.

right now its just a hole. I still need to make a notch cover for it. The notch sticks up about 3" into the floor. I should be able to hide it under my backseat......I hope.

20x8.5s with 5.5" backspacing, 255/35s front and rear. I m not really happy with the fit on the rear. I think they would be fine with a spacer, but I have them for sale in the classifieds section in hopes of getting some different ones.

So ...................... Does that mean a wider rim for the rear would be
optimum? or just running a different offset? Not a big fan of spacers

Another thing you need to think about is, the fact that those 295/40s are going to bottom out in the wheel tubs before you get too far up into the floor, unless you raise the tubs. I am raising mine 3" so that I have clearance for a 30" tall tire.

Yeah I am hopeing on getting by with just tucking the tire. Its hard to start chopping uo one that is already done I guess. I may have to get a truck and do it up right were I can lay it on the ground.
