Re: Just a tease...

Two questions

2. did you chop the top or ?

Looks good.

Re: Just a tease...

dwcsr: yea, the top is chopped 3.5"

rare to see these chopped...my buddy is doing most of the body work and this is his first (and probably last after this hah!) chop....really i need to get pics of it as it sites now.

the first round of choppage left the windshield ill-fitting (went through 2 before we got one that didn't break ) and the rear window shrunk in height 3.5" but on the second time, we got it the right way - build the cab around the windshield ;o) and, the amount of space between the stock rear window and the body line below it is just about 3.5" so from the spare roof/back cab section my buddy procured, we nabbed the rear window out of it, so the window is right between the top body line and bottom.

the final product that we're going for here is 'phantom' - hoping that the end result looks like the factory intended it as such

An old timer here in Connecticut told me the same thing, "Cut the glass first.
You can always move metal but not glass" I want to do my '57 exactly like your '59. How did you cut the glass?

Re: Just a tease...

Very true about the glass......I have passed over a few chopped cabs because there was no guarantee on how or if glass would fit.

glass was cut by sandblasting. first one pretty much shattered, 2nd one cracked, but we were able to use it as a template.

third was cut no problem.

working on getting more pictures...just bought a house this past year + new job and it's been quite hectic!

Re: Just a tease...

finish? are they ever really done? heh

i'm hoping to get some stuff done over the next few months..running brake and fuel lines, then cab back on and start doing the wiring.

i'm aiming to get it on the road for summer '08, which should be totally doable.
