GMC ambulance ::Updated Info and PICS 4/15::

Heres a crappy cell phone pic of the ambulance that my local rescue squad has sitting behind their building... it has @ 105k miles on it and was kept inside until the last year when they got a new ambulance and ran out of room inside... Ive been after em to sell it to me but im not sure if they can just sell it outright to a private individual. Anyhoo I cant get this damn truck off my mind, Ive got to have it!!! OK im done ranting, thanks for listening doods

Re: GMC ambulance

BUT THAT!!!!!!!!!!!! well you will encounter a problem if it is anything like the government. Governmet (federally owned vehicals army park servace...) must be sold at a public auction. IF you can get them to do it go fro it since it is a town vehical.

Re: GMC ambulance

oh also forgot if they do sell it to you they will remove the emblems and lights but maybe you can ask them to leve them on. It would be cool to keep it as is and just restore

Tell them you would like to make a donation to the department in turn for hauling that eyesore out of there for them.

Re: GMC ambulance

I stopped by the squad building on friday and asked them their plans for the ambulance... They said that they are probably gonna have a sealed bid auction for it sometime in the future.... That means that its gonna cost me some decent cabbage to get this one... because I want to make sure that I get it Anyhoo Ill keep you guys updated on this, as I know more... Man I hope I can get this friggin truck...

Re: GMC ambulance

You found out before I read this, but I was going to tell you that they do sealed bid where I run (East Hanover Vol. Rescue). I might have to come bid against you. I have wanted to find one and restore it like EHVRS's old suburbans for a while. Too bad I can't afford to.

Re: GMC ambulance

An update to this thread....

I found out that this ambulance was the one that my grandfather had to take a ride on back in 76 and it ended up saving his life after he was in a pretty bad head on collision.... that being said... hes interested in helping me get it as well as fixing it up a little... especially since hes retired now and gets bored quickly... Another reason hes interested is because its the same body style of the '67 chevy longbed that he bought when he first started his business back in 1966... (Ill have to get pics of that for yall because he still owns it and restored it back in 1987-88 It looks awesome Black with a white top). Anyhoo its looking better for me being able to get this truck and make sure that somebody doesnt buy it and haul hunting dogs around in it... lol We are supposed to be getting some information about the truck as well as the info about the sealed bid auction thatll release it into the public... Anybody got any idea what we should offer for this thing? IM thinking around 1500-2000?!?!

on a side note.. i stopped by this past sat and checked out the burban on the side of I-95 south of peterburg... its got one of the extended roof deals like the red one earlier in this thread... its still complete but would need a DAYUM good cleaning... I may stop by and check on that one as well...

anyhoo enough rambling

take it easy

GMC ambulance My $.02

I do not think you will get that ambulance for 1500/2000.. If you really want it and knowing it has some sentimental value to you and you will look long and hard for years for the next one to come up for sale , bid with you heart not your wallet if you REALLY want to own and have her. The other thing with the ambulance is that it is a good long term investment cause it will never go down in value. If they put that ambulance on Ebay and some guy that owns an ambulance company and is a car nut seen it he'd pay what ever it would take to own it. I've bid on lots of things over the years and my attitude is if it is something I really wanted and someone is going to out bid me then they are gonna pay big time for it. If you bid 2000.00 and some guy won the bid with 2150.00 you'd be awful pi**ed at yourself, wouldn't you? I say if someone is gonna take it from you "MAKE THEM PAY" . One last tip, never bid an even amount.. About 25 years ago I bid 1800. on a retired cop car and so did someone else. The police department let us submit another bid and I bid $2135.00 and the other bidder bid $2125.00.. Needless to say I won the car but it ticked me off that I had to spend another 300.00 or so for the car when I could have had it for 1801.00..
