Pics of my 72

Some people had asked to see some more pictures of my blazer and I was able to take some this past weekend when the weather was nice.

Re: Pics of my 72

Thanks Guys, The history is that I bought it from a local guy that had it about 6 years ago and it was in ok shape, typical rust, 350, auto, 4 inch lift and 35's. I drove it around like that for the summer and that winter i put 3/4 ton axles under it with a 8" sky jacker lift and 38" swampers. drove it around for awhile longer and the 350 took a dump so I had a 383 from another truck I used to own and I rebuilt it and ran it for another few years. About three years ago I decided I wanted to fix the rust before the truck fell apart and it would not be salvagable. As I took it apart it became clear to me the rust was more extensive than I had thought. I almost scrapped the truck and parted it out when I found a full nearly rust free tub. I bought the tub and began working on the new body. My dad an I worked on it on the weekends and when he retired about a year and half ago he spent alot of time doing the body work and helped finish it up.

My original plan was to build it to use offroad and as we worked on restoring it the project got out of hand and I kept doing more and more to it until it became what you see now. It was back on the road last June just in time for the Hot Rod Power Tour. My dad and I wrenched on it the night before we were supposed to leave to meet up with the tour in Roanoke Va. which is a 6 hour drive. Needless to say it worked out great and we drove from Roanoke to Englishtown NJ and back home in 4 days and had a blast, it was about a 1400 mile trip.

Thats it in a nutshell.

Very nice work. I like the work around for the common roll cage - glove box issue. Speaking of glove boxes, what is that in there?

I dig the color too!

Awesome rig, I just got a good idea for my instrument panel by looking at yours. I'll bet a 600 mile trip is a long ways in a setup like that. Thanks for sharing. Craig

Re: Pics of my 72

great color. I also love the cage. (neck insurance) Ride in the power tour might not have been real comfortable but I would trade that for the looks you got. Nice job. I hope I can retire and help my son on his truck!! I can relate to that original intent of truck and what it turns into!!

Re: Pics of my 72

Thanks for all of the compliments guys. Actually the drive was not to bad, it is a little to loud with 3" exhaust and 2 chamber flows but other than that it drives great

Inside the glovebox is my computer for the eldebrock proflow fuel injection and my wideband data logger for air fuel. It was the only place I could find to mount the stuff and hide it.

The fans are part of the Be Cool radiator kit for 67-72 trucks capable of cooling up to 700hp

I used a painless wiring harness to wire the truck and it was part of the kit. I was having some charging issues so I ended up running a 2 guage (I think) battery cable from the alternator directly to the battery, this seems to have solved the problem.

The seats are bestop seats for jeep wranglers. I used the seat brackets out of a wrangler and modified them to bolt in the original holes on the floor, both seats are ajustable and tilt forward for access to the back.

I would love to meet you guys up a paragon, just don't think I would do any rock crawling with it, have to hitch a ride , ha ha..

Thanks again

Re: Pics of my 72

i'll post some better pics of the seat brackets so you can see what we did. The only problem with them is where the factroy bushings were that attached the factory mounting bracket to the top part of the seat bracket. WE had to drill them out to take the bracket apart to modify it and we used bolts to put it back together. There is a little slop in it that I would like to get out some how maybe with some bushings or something, its not terrible but just one of those annoying things
