Got a new Y-block for my '68

Picked up a '57 Thunderbird 292 Y-block and T-85 3-speed running right out of '57 Thunderbird. Figured I would place it in my '68 instead of the A-bone. What do yall think?

Re: Got a new Y-block for my '68

they're really great engines if you can find somebody that knows how to work on them/ too bad it's not a 312// it wouldnt do much in the truck but if you gear the a right it'll take it down the road real good// ran a 312 thunderbird with the supercharger heads in this for 25years with great results(lots of tickets) i dont think you could name an induction type that i didnt run on it

Heck, I didn't know you were joking. I'd do it for fun - it would be a nice conversation starter.

Go for it!

Re: Got a new Y-block for my '68

A buddy of mine wanted to put a Flathead Ford engine in his 52 GMC a few years ago. I told him I thought it was a cool idea, definetly different. He decided against it because the truck was his DD and it would take too much time to fabricate stuff to fit.

Re: Got a new Y-block for my '68

Ford into chevy would be a first for me but right now my buddy is putting a pretty hot big block chevy into his 1977 ford f150. It's his DD too and he has all the goodies hooked up like power steering, AC and he even put a 700r behind it for good measure. He should be firing it up in a week or so.

Re: Got a new Y-block for my '68

We went to a show last year and there was a beautiful 1950's Chevy pickup that had a 460 Ford motor in it. I didn't like it. The truck was gorgeous, but why??????

Attachment 256562Exactly, I am rocking a small block Chevy in the '47 International rather than an International V-8.
