Got a new Y-block for my '68 - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Picked up a '57 Thunderbird 292 Y-block and T-85 3-speed running right out of '57 Thunderbird. Figured I would place it in my '68 instead of the A-bone. What do yall think?

they're really great engines if you can find somebody that knows how to work on them/ too bad it's not a 312// it wouldnt do much in the truck but if you gear the a right it'll take it down the road real good// ran a 312 thunderbird with the supercharger heads in this for 25years with great results(lots of tickets) i dont think you could name an induction type that i didnt run on it

A buddy of mine wanted to put a Flathead Ford engine in his 52 GMC a few years ago. I told him I thought it was a cool idea, definetly different. He decided against it because the truck was his DD and it would take too much time to fabricate stuff to fit.

Ford into chevy would be a first for me but right now my buddy is putting a pretty hot big block chevy into his 1977 ford f150. It's his DD too and he has all the goodies hooked up like power steering, AC and he even put a 700r behind it for good measure. He should be firing it up in a week or so.

We went to a show last year and there was a beautiful 1950's Chevy pickup that had a 460 Ford motor in it. I didn't like it. The truck was gorgeous, but why??????
