The problem with America is stupidity. I'm not saying there should be a capital punishment for stupidity, but why don't we just take the safety labels off of everything and let the problem solve itself?

Re: Lowering???!??!?!?!

Cutting coils is a method I'd much prefer. One full coil cut out is roughly 2" drop. Not sure what to do about the back, but heating I've heard many more bad things than good things about.

Heating the coils will degrade the strength of the steel. I would not want to see one of these trucks on the highway when a spring breaks from being heated.

Re: Lowering???!??!?!?!

Yes, you definitely don't wanna heat them. That takes the temper out of the spring and ruins the ride and it can be dangerous. Cutting springs is better but if you are starting out with a set of 40 year old springs it still won't ride great. Drop springs are engineered to give you the best ride possible with the shorter length. I went from old springs with one coil removed to 2 1/2 drop spindles and 3 inch drop springs up front and 5 inch drop springs out back and my ride improved greatly even though the truck now sits much lower than it did with one coil removed from each coil. The good thing about cutting springs though is that it's basically free so try it and if you don't like the ride then plan on stepping up to true drop springs. The important thing is that you are getting low!

Re: Lowering???!??!?!?!

The only coils that can be cut are the fronts. The rears are tapered on both ends.
