"La Veija"

Quick summary:

1968 C10, 454 BB

I bought my truck around late Sept 2008.

I bought an addtional frame to start the bag work.

Then I started replacing part: Conversion kits, cab corners, shaving fenders and so.

Took about 3/4 of an inch bondo from roof and rear middle cab. Then Decided to buy an original, no body work done cab.

Puchased a Dropmember....

So here it goes.

Re: Project "Dirty D"

I discovered that my grill had a thick layer of bondo, so I cut the center stip that was bent and replaced with another.

Re: Project "Dirty D"

Well I purchased this frame for $100 at a swap meet and water blasted it. It is only temporally, once frame gets bagged, it will be sent out for power coat.

Installed a 6 lug conversion kit.

I purchased a Dropmember from Nate.

This means all new springs, spindles, ball joints were pointless

Re: Project "Dirty D"

Well on New Years of 2009 I installed my dropmember, and 2 weeks before that I purchased a another cab because my truck cab had bad deep dents that had been badly work and it had to much streched metal. I decidedto buy a cab that had original paint job, that way I knew exactly what I was getting into. The good thing is that the cab corners dont need replacement but the rockers do (It ok because I was going to replace them on the other truck aswell). The floor need replacement but only a small place on driver side. Roof is in excellent condition

I am not done cutting the frame for the rack and pinion. I wanted to confirm it with Nate before anyrhing.

I will try to keep posting.

Re: Project "Dirty D"

This is the cab that I purchased for $50. Needs work but looking forward to it.
This just some of the rust that needs replacement. I will update as I finish a section.

Re: Project "Dirty D"

Here goes an update March 29, 2009!

Well my business has increased, so my time is short now. I decided to get a cab that needed less work. I bought a cab off a board member and it was in real good condition. It only needs inner and outer rockers and cab corners plus my little extra areas that I want to shave.

I fab'd in new inners and coated them with por-15. Then I installed the new outer rockers.

I also bought a new raditor support, It's not as tough as the orginial but cost effective due to the work my orginial needed.

Re: Project "Dirty D"

I bought a short fleetside bed that had been garaged for 11 years and has no rust or body filler. The only defect is has is two door dings and a missing floor. The tail gate does need some work, but I will worry about that later.

I also bought 2 new doors from a friend that decided to go a different route (traded them for a new brakebooster)

KYB shocks and lower bag plates.

Installed a new power rack and pinion

Here is another picture of the new raditior support.

New items that are in thier way:
-wiring hardness
-step notch (porterbuilt)
-2 inch steel cowl hood
-euro headlights with trim
-new door hinges
