Bed dimensions??

I am hoping someone can tell me if the bed sizes have varied any from year to year. I have a 72 short bed and am looking to put a caravan camper on it. I have found a camper that was on an 88 short bed, but I don't know if the size is comparable. Any help? I have searched the internet with minimal success......

Re: Bed dimensions??

measure your bed and then measure that camper. Yours should be around 6' but im not to good with the exact specs. I think the long beds varied from camper special to just long bed but im not exactly sure

Re: Bed dimensions??

Therein lies my dilemma - my truck is in CA right now getting a new carb, and I can't get the measurements. Mind measuring for me?

Re: Bed dimensions??

Short beds are typically 6 1/2 feet long. Long bed: 8 feet. Longhorn: 8 1/2 feet long. Width between the wheel wells is usually 4 feet or maybe a hair more. If anything your bed is bigger than the '88, but I suspect they are close to the same where it counts ( L x W btwn wheel wells).

Re: Bed dimensions??

Don't know what the dimensions are but the beds do taper from the back to the front on the newer ones. We took the steel headache rackwith siderails off an old 1972 and had to cut and weld it back together to fit a 1990.

Re: Bed dimensions??

Here you go 88-98 short bed front inside 63-3/4 in. outside 69-1/2 in. rear inside 62-1/8 in outside 67-1/2 in. length outside bed,80-1/2 in. 69 short bed front inside 66 in. outside 70-1/2 in. rear inside 65-1/8 in. outside 70-1/2 in. length outside 79-1/4 in.. The outside measurements are approximate. Hope this helps. James.
