Don't Tell My Wife But Look What Came Home With Me!

OK what do you guys think? This 72 original 2 wheel drive Blazer just happened to come home with me last Sunday afternoon. She has a single wall top. spare tire carrier and some kind of tach dash that I don't know if it is original or not. Her front floorboards are ROUGH! The entire rear floor is in surprisingly good shape. The 6 banger has no head and the posi rear end is long gone. So good project vehicle or not bad parts?

Re: Don't Tell My Wife But Look What Came Home With Me!

Thanks still not sure if I am going to tackle restoring but it IS a 2 wheel drive isn't it? I was wondering does anybody know what these wheels were originally on? There are 4 that came with Blazer. Oh yeah don't know about flat tire as spare, overconfidence?

Those wheels look like a 15x6.5 van ralley wheel. They are the narrower verion of the pickup ralleys that were made between 73-87.
The pickups had a 15x7 or 15x8 inch version.

And,... NICE blazer!

Re: Don't Tell My Wife But Look What Came Home With Me!

Thanks for info on wheels. Messed with blazer some today, tearing out rest of carpet and trying to remove spare tire carrier. Looks like might have to soak some nuts and bolts a little longer. Rear half of blazer is very straight with not a whole lot of rust. Front half looks like it was left hanging out of shelter for awhile. Going to work on it some more next week. Top is in VERY good shape also, with a bath would be very presentable.

Re: Don't Tell My Wife But Look What Came Home With Me!

Your Blazer was owned by a friend of mine. Does it still have the huge gas tank on it? It is a factory 6 cly, if you check out your Vin# you will see it starts with CCS. I was thinking about buying it. He had it on Craigslist. I just sold my 2wd to a guy in La. He used to own the one I just sold also. Here are some pictures of it.

Yeah gas tank is still under her. Motor is still there minus head and everything else. Came from Carboro area. Saw yours for sale but price on this one was easier sell to wifey.

It to bad you could not have gotten them both. Between the two of them you could have had a good body to start with.

Keep me in mind if you run across another. I don't live that far from you ya know? Oh yeah really like your ride. Always was partial to that color. Might look good on a 2 wheel drive blazer huh?

Re: Don't Tell My Wife But Look What Came Home With Me!

They are getting harder to find. Not many 2wd's built. 3357 built in 1972, 1277 built in 1971, 985 built in 1970, and for 1969 a total of 4935 built but I don't know if any were 2 wd. Where in NC do you live? Are you going to the Auto Fair in Charlotte this weekend?

For now nothing is for sale. Actually bought blazer for carrier. My other blazer had previously had one on it and I was looking for a replacement. Thanks for asking and it looks like I may be calling you in future for some "other" parts.

Re: Don't Tell My Wife But Look What Came Home With Me!

Cool to know there are more K5s in the area than just mine. I have only ever seen one other here in the 3+ years I have been back from TX.

Nice find!

My 71 came from Rock Hill,SC and the only other one I have seen since was a local man's that he has had since new! Maybe in a year or so I will drive this one over near Raleigh and holler at you.
Hey what color are you going with for your blazer? I looked at your pics and looks like nice work.

Have to say, the best thing I ever brought home to my Wife was my K5! Just ask her! She just loves it, and always will! Nice looking find! Let her in on it, she may help with "fun"ding!

Thanks. Originally I thought Orange/White top, but I have a while to decide. Zero progress has been made on it in almost a year, but it does get driven about once a month.

Keep checking ads, craigslist, etc. I wasn't looking for another but couldn't help myself.

As far as selling wife, I am currently low on cash but always available to trades! Good luck in your search!

Ended up paying $550.00. He was asking more but a guy who had promised to buy from him backed out so he wanted to get rid of it. I think I'll keep her for awhile. My wife has seen her now and she is going to let me rebuild her if I promise that this one is hers? How can you argue with that logic?
