Talking ...and now for something completely different...

did a little experimentation with a set of 17" steelies off of an FJ Cruiser. threw a coat of Dupont single stage and clear on them and got a full set of NEW General 235/55/17's from Craigslist.

call me a sucker for gray steelies. I think these are the 3rd set I've experimented with. these rims have a bit of an offset (5.0") so a few spacers and viola! AND there's no worries about clearing the axle stubs since the FJ's are not hub centric!

bought a full set of NOS 89-91 4x4 center caps that I was toying with installing, but I think I like the naked look.

oh yeah. picked up yet another cooler. this is starting to get ridiculous....

Re: ...and now for something completely different...

Good look.Do the FJ steelies have the "nubs" for center hubcaps like a moon or poverty cap? They kind of remind me of the old school military or implement wheels.

They do look pretty cool. Good color choice for that truck too. A lot of the "modern" aluminum wheels just look out of place on these old trucks, but those look good.

Fill that cooler up with some Budlight and give me a hollar and I help you drink it. The wheels look cool. Did you ever see Scott's truck with the new wheels.

Hey Doug, I don't like those wheels and tires on your Stepside at all. I think they would look much better on a White Shortbed Fleetside, so I'll run down and pick them up and save you the embarrassment...

I dig it, how cool would that look with no spacers on the back and a nice dish on the rear wheels.

Those are the best lookin' Steel Wheels I have seen! I would put Chrome lug nuts on them and paint the Axle centers the same color as your truck. No centers.

Re: ...and now for something completely different...

keep an eye on the lug nuts, even if the wheels aren't hub centric, your hubs are designed to carry the weight, not the wheel studs. I went through this on my old GMC. It would snap at least one stud every month or so.
They look bad ass though.

amazes me how many times people overlook amazing wheels like that because they assume the bolt pattern wont work. those wheels look amazing.
