Got a new Suburban today

I saw a Suburban for sale local and went and looked at it. Not sure what I am going to do with it now that I have bought it, I will probably just sell it to someone that would like an original Suburban. I guess I could have Kevin make it a crew cab, he loves to cut in good metal. It is a pretty loaded Suburban, front and rear air, tilt, tach, 350 with a 350 trans. The same guy has owned it since 1987. What do you guys think it would be a good price to ask for it?

Re: Got a new Suburban today

It really looks better in the pictures than it does in real life. There is a spot of cancer that someone tried to fix behind the right rear wheel and the liftgate has some cancer and of course under the battery box has some too. The PO has recently installed new drums and brakes on the rear end, new battery, new master cylinder. It runs really good and drives down the road great. It still has the California smog on it and the smog pump is not frozen but the belt was removed at one time. I know from the Po that he rerouted the heater hoses because he thought that the heater core was leaking and the air conditioning was working last year but now blows hot. It also has an older Edelbrock carb on it. I think all the options on the SPID are still on the truck right now.

Nice score! I'm not sure what it is worth. But in our area people would ask atleast 5k just because of the options and clean body I'm guessing.

I think it would be missing a few parts off it and maybe Kevin would have it making a crew cab out of it. You know he loves cutting up these Suburbans.

Re: Got a new Suburban today

Is it a 71 or 72 3/4 ton? Does the rear air work...?

I would probably try to get it for around seven depending on what works, rust ...the usual and also if it was going to be a keeper versus reselling...

Looks great!!! Nice Find!!!

Re: Got a new Suburban today

I won't be keeping it too long, found something else that I like better at the Good guys show in Pleasnaton today and my wife says my toy box is way too full, I only have about 12 cars and trucks, mostly trucks. The Suburban is a 72 3/4 ton and the rear air comes on but hot air just like the front air does.

I was looking at a 54 4 door wagon, really cool

Here are some pictures of the bad areas on the Suburban.

There was some rust that was kinda covered up by the right rear quarter behind the tire, some rust in the liftgate as seen in the pictures, some damage on the drivers door from the mirror, and a dent in the left front fender. There is also some rust under the battery box, go figure.

Re: Got a new Suburban today

Here are the pictures of the seats, the rear seatbelts do not match the rest of the belts. The other pictures I guess were when they used to haul a canoe on the top of the Suburban.

Re: Got a new Suburban today

The drivers side front door panel is broken but I do have a complete white set on Ebay right now, I guess I should pull them. The rockers look to be in good condition. Also the steering wheel is junk, big crack in it.

Still has good potential. Nice 54 (a Bel Air Townsman, Two Ten Handyman or One Fifty Handyman?)

It is a 150 Handyman but someone has put a 327 engine in it with a 350 trans and a 10 bolt rear end. It has also been converted to 12 volt with an alternator. I am still checking it out. love new toys and good surprises.
