Question Water getting into my cab and rusting floor!

I have no clue why this is happening.. I can pour water into my cowl before my windshield, and water leaks into my cab.. its about midway down between the floor, and bottom of windshield. Why is this ? Is there a seal I can buy, or is there a serious problem ? 86 Silverado 350\350 2 Wheel, SWB.

your cowl is rusted out. i have the same problem. if you pull the cowl filler piece off and look down in ther you will see that its rusted out. you can buy the replacement pannel to fix it i believe lmc offers them. its a pretty common problem.

lmc has cowls now? I didn't know that. I know they got the screens and ones with bolts or clips, and then the lower cowls which is the lower firewall on the outside.

Do you have cab lights? That was the source of my leak. Some silicone around the base(s) and around the cracks and that ended it.

My first thought. Mine had leaves stuck in it and caused it to rust. I lucked out that it rusted the other way into the engine bay.

To get the cowl piece off you pull the wind shield wipers, and you'll find a few bolts holding the cowl on. After that is a plastic vent piece which also unbolts. Then you'll be able to see down in there. Clean out any gunk, and look for rust. Even if it turns out that isn't the problem, it doesn't hurt to clean it. Would have kept mine from having a new vent for the engine...
