67 bagged header help please

I have a 67 c10 that's bagged with a 350/350. Its originally a I6 and it has some garbage headers on it now that are very skinny and make it very hard to work with the spark plugs, not to mention I have to use accel header plugs which really suck IMO. Have had a ton of problems with Brand new sets. Does anyone have any advice in this area that could recommend a set to me that's not like $500? I have heard of headers being hard to fit bagged c10 and also clearing the frame and motor mounts seem to be issues as well. Thanks in advance guys, I need to get back in gear and finish this truck.

I got a set of JBA headers from a neighbor for wiring up his batteries in a RV. The are shorties, both exit rear of the motor. They are expensive, but that is the design that worked for me.

I've always heard shorty chevelle headers work. They did for my bro's truck, but I'm unsure of the clearance for a column shifter since he had a floor shifter in it...I'm wondering the same thing too right now...

my truck is not bagged, but is lowered 4/6, and I run sanderson ceramic coated shorties, and have no problems working on engine (sparkplugs) and there is plenty of room underneath. Got my headers from a car show (GoodGuys in Pleasanton) for $200. (show price)

I got camaro mid lenth headers, they work fine. Flowtech make some cheap ones, I just put some on my wifes 55 and they cost $112.

@skunkwerx is that a 55 truck you put those headers on? I didn't realize it would be this rough to get a pair of headers that would not smash when I slammed the truck. I'm not really trying to modify a set due to lack of experience but I need a set bad! Thanks everyone for their advice....please keep it coming.

I have a bagged 67 and I'm using ceramic coated 3/4 length Chevelle/Malibu headers. Some have said they have issues with the headers hitting the frame but mine have about 1/2" clearance on each side. Spark plug access is not a problem either. If I remember correctly I got them from either Jegs or Summit. They do have the smaller 1 3/4" tubes on them though ... another thing some of the performance guys don't like. <shrug>

I have camaro headers on both, ceramic coated on my 68( they were alittle higher priced).then on my wifes 55 I got the samething, but got the cheapest I could find(black painted ones)from oriellys.

@skunkwerx What year camaro or does it matter? Hopefully they aren't the small one's either but I will settle with what I can get for a resonable price. I just came into some spending money and I'm trying to purchase a few parts before my wife finds my stash. Thanks alot for everyone's help, you guys are really helpfull to fellas like me!

I'm using the sanderson ceramic coated headers earlyclassic sells. they work fine with my bags and dropmember.

@skunkwerx Thanks alot man, I really appreciate it. I'm still afraid to order it though. I have ordered so many things that ended up being the wrong year, or wrong part and had to pay shipping twice to get the correct part. I'm thinking about buying a lincoln 140 welder, that way if I did get some headers and they don't fit, I could learn to fab lol! I think it would be easier to fab the exaust to the header, just might take along time and alot of steel! That's how I have learned to do everything on this truck, trial and error pretty much. Just sucks because it usually cost money and time, 2 things I don't have much of.

Sorry to resurrect such an old thread, but I figured I'd post my issue. I picked up a set of mid-length chevelle headers for the blazer and they didn't fit. They seemed like they would fit in the frame just fine, but the ds header hit the motor mount about 1" before the front bolt hole would line up. Modification to the mount would basically be removing it all together, so it's out of the question.

Given a lot of people are able to run these headers with no issues, I'm really curious what the difference is with my set up that's making it hit so badly. It's a SBC in a factory 2wd blazer. I don't know if the mounts are original, but they are OEM towers.

Looks like I'm going to have to dish out the coin for the Sanderson's...

Yes just what I had read on many other threads and also seen in person tubbedll, here is what I found to work for headers in this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=449254 apparently the best fitment I have found is for SBC CHEVY/GMC 88-95 TRUCK HEADERS but be sure the first pipe runs over the top of all the others to clear the motor tower/mount

I run the Flowtechs mentioned above. Ya, I dimpled mine on the drivers side....not much though. Fit is perfect otherwise. Yes, they aren't the big tube, big collector, or big buck badass ones like sandersons or whatever but they get the job done. And I ain't saying that I wouldn't like to have the high dollar ones...I just wanna spend money elsewhere. My opinion.

I do agree, thats the only reason I went with what I purchased in the above thread I posted because I would rather spend the extra some other place.
