active transfer case
I saw this in a brochure for my 2000 GMC. What exactly is this? Mine is 4wd with Auto 4wd button as well as the normal 2 hi, 4 lo, 4 hi buttons.
Also I noticed the driveshaft from t case to front diff does not turn by hand like my 97 does. While under it for oil and lube I give it a turn on the 97 but the 2000 will not as though it was engaged. It is disengaged though. The 4wd works perfectly on both trucks. What's the difference?

my '99 is like that with the drive shafts too. and i believe(not positive) active t-case is the top button which is AUTO 4WD or something like that. it engages when it senses tire slip, and disengages when it has enough traction. never used/liked it though.
