What transfer case for 68 4x4 with 4 speed

I need to replace the stock transfer case on this 68 of mine. There are ball bearings missing and i dont think there is a rebuild kit available. I think the stock t-case is a Rockwell T221. I think the NP205 will bolt right to the current SM465 (?) 4 speed, but would like to hear from you. Is the 205 an easy fit? Are there better alternatives? Thanks!

Re: What transfer case for 68 4x4 with 4 speed

You are correct...if you truck is stock, it would have the Rockwell T221.

You'll need the SP465 to NP205 specific adapter. There are two patterns of 205 out there, the early "figure-8" pattern with a 10spl input shaft and the late "round-6" which has the 32spl input shaft.

It won't be particularly difficult to do this, provided you gather the correct pieces. The NP205 is a good, tough transfer case.

Thanks, that is helpful. As I understand it, the NP205 is also not hard to come by. THis is my first post, and I am very pleased with the immediate help!
