Steering Column Bearing
I am having trouble find a replacement bearing for my steering column. I feel sure some of you have had to replace it. Suggestions?

for bearings that i cant find by specific application i go to graingers and purchase by measurements// my dust collector for blast cabinet needed a bearing only replacement from manuracturer was the whole darn motor, for about $5 withshipping i got the bearing from graingers and its back in business

Did a quick Google search and Brothers shows both the upper and the lower.

As Cdowns mentoned: If you're in a hurry most bearings have a number and if you have a bearing place listed in the yellow pages take the bearing with you and see if they can match it. I have replaced several in the past that way.

I dont think you will find these brgs at a industrial supply store. They are specific to these columns. The lower one comes with a kit that includes the spring & seat. I have the GM part numbers at the shop & can look them up tomorrow. Many of the specialty supply parts places have them.

Since the steering column isn't water tight at the base, water gets in and wreaks havoc with the OEM roller bearing. I went with the sleeve bearing from American Classics, something you might want to consider. Another thing to look at: If the lower bearing has failed the steering column shaft may be worn. On my truck it was severely worn and I welded and machined it down. How it looked at disassembly  How it looked after repair:  Hope that helps!
