Original AM/FM ? (Long Post)

Well after several un-successful swap meet searches I finally picked up an original am/fm unit at the Pate/Texas Motor Speedway swap meet this last weekend. Very nice face plate with minor small marks. True truck am/fm, dial flips easily, push buttons work and has the rear connector. $230, don't know that it works but guy I bought it from says it did when it was pulled and been sitting in the garage for several years. I like the idea of getting it checked out and putting it in the truck to replace the aftermarked am/fm/cassette unit I have. Problem is I also like to listen to cassette and would like cd option. That brings me to where to mount a after market unit and can it be wired to use same speakers as stock unit. I am quite less than knowledgeable about audio wiring so if that is a dumb question, excuse the ignorance there

You can get a cd changer with an fm modulator where you would just tune the radio to an unused station and the sound would come through the factory radio. The changer can go almost anywhere and will have a remote to control the cd functions and volume will be controled with the stock radio.

I'm no pro, but I don't know of a way to run the same speakers off of 2 different source units. I could have sworn there was a post on how to enable a stock deck to use an Ipod or digital player. It might be a good option to look into as well as what's posted by 76stepsidechevy.

Re: Original AM/FM ? (Long Post)

Thanks for the replies, guess it's kind of a moot point at the moment. Just picked up the radio from local repair shop and was told, "Nice lookin' am/fm, too bad it don't work" Guess I need to contact another radio repair shop with more experience with older radios.
