Re: Sport bumper brackets

I think the same , but someone else needs to chime in here.

The differences are Blazers & burbs vs trucks & step bumper brackets.

Re: Sport bumper brackets

I have a the 81-87 fleetside setup but I was hoping the 73-80 stepside bumper would fit the brackets. Still going to go stepside, just not this week

Re: Sport bumper brackets

The 73-87 rear stepside bumper is the same bumper used on the 67-72 trucks.
Very different bracket.
I wonder if you could make a set of 67-72 brackets work?

Here's a set of 67-72 stepside and fleetside brackets (on the left) and 73-87 "stepside only" brackets (on the right).

Re: Sport bumper brackets

Ok ...from what I remember

73-80 fleetside use same bracket

outers are same as sub/blazer;inners are unique to truck

81-87 fleetside use same brackets

outer bracket same as sub/blazer 81-87

Also sub/blazer and crewcab continued to 91

73-87 stepside all interchange

Also note vans are different completely;bumpers are narrower and mount holes are smaller and in different place.
However vans are a good source for the licence plate mount and light for fleetside bumpers.

Fleetside bumpers were available in chrome (with or without impact strips) and white;Chevy Sport/GMC Street Coupes came with body color bumpers with impact strips.

Yes.
The 73-87 (stepside only) trucks all had the same 67-72 rear bumper.
They never match the front bumper of the 73-80 and 81-87 trucks.
Weird,... yes.

The fleetside trucks in 73-80 and 81-87 had a matching rear sport bumper.

Re: Sport bumper brackets

The brackets in the pic I posted,... (right side of the pic) are 73-87 stepside sport bumper brackets.

Re: Sport bumper brackets

This would be a great 73-87 FAQ if we could get a few more pics. Any one have any pics they can contribute to help it out?

Re: Sport bumper brackets

I have the 73-80 stepper and the 81-87 fleetside when I dig them out. They look very similar although LMC shows them as different. I'll check them closer. I just wanted to see of the brackets were the same.
