and another Hell week begins

for starters I don't know why I always do this to myself the week of Memorial Day weekend (this time I know why though) but I'm gonna jerk the under-powered 307 punched 40 over SBC out of "Clifford" to put yet another motor in it's place but hopefully this will be the last swap befor going to a Diesel, the motor this time is a 468ci BBC GM crate motor with a Edlbrock intake and matched cam with 0 miles on it, yep that's rite a brand new crate motor, now a SBC I can have pulled swapped and running in 8 hours or less so I'm taking half a day thursday and all day friday to swap in the BB, the story on the motor is it was assembeled 2 years ago to go in a CJ, the motor got painted yellow and sat into the engine bay to make mounts then my buddy lost interest, well now he's gonna park the CJ and doesn't want to see the expencive crate he got to go to waist, so yea me I get a new motor and have verry little time to do the swap, any suggestions? I know I have to use the BB flywheel but will my other accessorys (alt bracket, power stearing pump bracket, exc) fit or am I in need of a junkyard day?

SBC and BBC have different size brackets for the accessories.

Yep.

I know there is a couple companies that sell adapters, but for the price a trip to the junk yard is the way to go. All you really need is the basic alternator, and power steering brackets, plus the crank, and water pump pulleys. If you can get to a junk yard, they are common as the anchors them selves!

Re: and another Hell week begins

sounds like I either better go junk yarding or find all the serpinteen crap that he aquired for the motor, I pefer v belts in the mud and with my on-board air so if I have issues i can just pull a belt or 2 and not loose everything

Re: and another Hell week begins

never got to the pit, got her to fire sunday afternoon and popped the pan gasket out after the 20min break-in of the cam, distributer has issues but picked up a new pro-comp hei one from Gearhead.com which happens to be located here in hudson (I love not having to worry bout paying shipping, I just call and go pick the stuff up) and need to install it, have some wireing to re-do but she moved the truck outa the shop, turned it around and backed it back in after changing the pan gasket
