Dash repair questions.
The dash in my 69 SWB has been cut for possibly the biggest radio in the world. It's cut from the normal radio hole into where the heat and A/C controls are. I was wondering if I should try and use a patch panel cut from another dash or just try and swap the entire dash. I noticed the bottom bolts in. Is the top of the dash secured where the windshield lip is? Can anyone give me any tips on replacing the entire dash? Thanks for any help.

If it is really that big, I would find a donor truck and replace the entire dash. The dash is bolted and spot-welded in some places.

There are spot welds along the whole windshield lip. I would cut out a patch from a doner truck and weld it in.

I have a good patch panel that would require minimal welding...$25 including shipping.

Could it have been cut for a double-din style stereo? Was it cut nicely, or hacked? If it's clean, knucklbuster might be onto something, you could put a little tv in the dash...LOL

You could either do the patch panel like pictured above, but you may be better off to replace the dash. And a much easier way to do it would be cutting it at teh edge that is covered by the dash pad. Once the pad is on, no one will ever know that it was done that way, and it would be WAY easier.

Or you could do something custom like I did. 1/8" polished diamond plate from Lowes.
