elusive steel 67 GMC grille?

Does anyone make a 67 GMC steel grille? I've been looking everywhere but all I find is chrome. Nothing here,in the catalogs I got or online and been on searchtempest nationwide. I'm not interested on buying now but it is something I'd like to get down the road.

Only chrome is reproduced. You'll just have to get one of those, blast, and paint or powder coat.

Re: elusive steel 67 GMC grille?

If you are looking for an original painted GMC 1967 grill, they are all over California and Nevada. I would keep looking and before you know it one will surface. I have a original stainless looking type from 1967 I picked up in San Diego last year. I don't think it is chrome or aluminum because it has the normal surface rust that occurs on the inside of the original grills. Good Luck, and it will materialize. There worth about 100 to 200 pending on shape and look.

All 67-72 GMC grilles are steel, not stainless or aluminum.

Re: elusive steel 67 GMC grille?

Hello K,
Thanks for backing me up here. I really wanted to give the gentleman some hope, because they are out there. I had come accross one in outside of Carson Nevada just a month ago, it was a painted white one. He could sand blast/sand a silver steel one and paint it. I have done that to some Hubcaps. I had it powder coated to adhere better. Anyway, good luck and would like to know what you found when it happens.

Re: elusive steel 67 GMC grille?

The beauty of wanting a painted grille is you can buy a chrome one that has flaws, fix the flaws, paint and have a perfect looking grille. Not that you can't do the same with a factory painted grille. It's hard to sell a chrome grille that has rust, faded chrome,or one little dent because chroming alone is a killer. So,a guy who wants painted should be able to score one cheap because they really are just "cores".
