Just added another COE to the menagerie...

1948, off of a local farm. Couldn't pass it up for $800.

It starts even. Obviously brakes, etc. need to be woken up from their slumber.

Not sure what I'll do with this one, maybe just run it like it looks now, well... cleaned up a little. Original/rat-rod style.

Re: Just added another COE to the menagerie...

Thank you. It's a $3,500 truck around here too, this fella just didn't know it, lol... I'm sure we all see what some really rough ones go for on eBay, so yes, I'm glad to have snuck up on this one.

Love having the Chevy name tag on it.

Congrats!

OT- we camp at the Wentzville Wally World when traveling into STL.

That is one solid looking truck. One heck of a bed on it too. Looks to be pro built and well built.

Re: Just added another COE to the menagerie...

Thanks all!

Highsider, in about a year I hope to have my microbrewery open here in Wentzville, so plan to stop in for a cold one.

The 52 COE should be dressed out as an old beer truck by then.

Re: Just added another COE to the menagerie...

Atom...

My two have different wheelbase lengths.
The shorter ('48) I will likely leave alone, as I will keep it on the factory chassis.

The other ('52) I'm using a 90's era RV chassis so I will shorten it some.
Better ride, brakes, steering, yadda yadda.

Absolutely!

I'm always ready, willing, and able to drink good beer and talk about old trucks.

What I was asking is how low can you make them and still drive it into the garage. I only have a 7' tall door, will it fit under?

Re: Just added another COE to the menagerie...

Wow, she's a steal for $800.

I'd just give her a Comet or CLR wash down with a ScotchBrite pad and spray her with rattle can satin clear. Then just do all the safety stuff: Brakes, fresh unchecked tires, gas tank, then amybe some wood for the flatbed so she could be used. I'd be proud to have the old girl.
