Wheel back spacing

I have a 1953 Chevy and am using a Mustang II up front Ford 9" that measures 60 inches wide in the rear. I'll be running 16x7s up front and 17x8s out back. What backspacing do I need on both?

Best thing to do is measure for clearance - inside/outside & full turn on front.
Make sure to measure both sides front/rear.
I have a MII front w/air-ride(bags & shocks) and run 17"x7" with 3 3/4" backspace
front and a 10 bolt rear with 18"x8" w/ 4" b.s. Works for me but the 10 bolt may be a little wider.
If you can get it to a good tire/wheel shop they could measure and tell you for sure. Also, some custom wheel sites show how to measure for backspace.
What kind of wheels are you running??

Re: Wheel back spacing

If the tires have to clear the factory bed sides 3 inch max back spacing. That should give you almost an inch of clearance between the tires and the bed.

77 C 30 dualie, 454, 4 speed with a 10 foot flatbed and hoist. It does the heavy work and hauls the projects around.

Re: Wheel back spacing

I'm going to tub the bed. Should have said that. I'd like to run 265/65/17 rears and 225/60/16 fronts
