CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

My bro just got a 2005 chevy silverado half ton. Factory EVERYTHING. Put a cd in, listened to it a while, and had a good time. Hit the eject button. CLICK CLICK CLICK! Then the stereo screen said "check disc". Tired of listening to the same thing. The disc is brand new and doesn't skip or anything like that. Is a new stereo in order here? If not, what is needed to fix it? Any help or pictures are appreciated greatly!

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

My 03 does the same thing but it has a 6 disk changer... been that way for 2 years. I would also like to know if there is a solution for this.

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

I had a CD stuck in my DD and I took it to a High End Stereo Store and they removed my Radio and removed the CD. Cost me $50.00 but was worth every penny, daughter had borrowed my truck and put a homemade RAP Cd in it.

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

I will try the battery thing. Should I do it with the ignition on, the engine running, or everything shut off? If that doesn't fix it, is there anything else I could try? If the stereo needs replacement, how hard is it to install a pioneer?

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

I've had this happen in several diffrent car and trucks. I use one of the reward cards like Zone gives you to get them out.. Just slide it under the lip of the disk and push eject.. works everytime atleast on single disk players.

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

I know most aftermarket stereos have a manual eject button somewhere behind the faceplate, not sure if stock ones do or not though. The last one I got a disk out of, the button was just a little pinhole. I stuck a paperclip in it, and out popped the disk. Didn't have any problems after that.

Hope that helps! Good Luck!

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

There used to be a pin hole around the unit that allowed you to eject stuck discs...look around for it...maybe it has one.

Do you need to remove the surround from the dash to find the pin hole on a 2003 GMC?

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

Did you try what Chevy Man suggested with a credit card? I've had success with that before.

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

When removing the battery cable will all the pre-sets be erased?
How long do you leave the battery cable disconnected?
I tried all the other options

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

wifes got a CD player in her 05 malibu, jammed couldn't even play the radio
dinner knives,needlenose ,tweezers tried everything
.....coat hanger wire, bout 8 inches, one end put a 90 degress bend ,cut down to a little hook nib
got the center of the disc, pulled it out, does it still play CDs? no but it does play the radio and all the computer controls built in, are ok

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

pull the radio out of the dash and remove the housing around everything and then you can just pull the cd right out, ive had to do this on a few factory radio and aftermarket radios

Re: CD stuck in stereo! Fixable?

This happened on my stepdad's 04. With something like a credit card, fold the felt back and look inside there are two little flat tabs that are suppose to drop when ejecting, his were not. I did the cc trick and got it out.
