Rear end Swap 1964 *Need Advise*

I have a 1964 C-10 with coil springs, I'm looking to do a rear end swap to have better gears, 5 lug pattern and hopefully disc brakes. It would be cheaper to do a full rear end swap. I just found a 10 Bolt out of an 86 Camaro iroc, comes with posi and disc brakes. Would this work?? Please help.. I dont wanna loose this deal especially since its close to home. Any info is appreciated

I would think a Camaro rearend would be a little narrow for the truck. You would also have to spend some time cutting off all the old brackets and replace them with ones for the truck. You'd also have a different bolt pattern in the rear since the Camaro is 5x4 3/4. If you convert the front with newer spindles you will have 5x5 in the front.

I already converted my front to 5x5, I actually want a 5x4.75.. I talked to my cousin who builds hot rods and he said those rear ends are junk.... Damn I was really hoping that would be a legit deal..... What about if it was a 73-87 rear end? Is there a big difference between a newer c-10 and k-10 rear end?

73-87 would work. You can get kits to mount it to the trailing arms and install a track bar mount on them.

The '71-'72 12 bolt will be a direct bolt in but will be 1.5" wider that the rear end you have now. The '73-'87 will also be 63.5" wide, but will require the spring pads and shock mounts be cut off, and the trailing arm mounts and a panhard bar mount welded on. All of these will have the 5x5 wheel stud pattern. If you can find a rear end out of a '68-'72 Chevelle/Malibu/El Camino, those will be aprox. 1" narrower than your current differential, and have the 5 x 4.75" wheel stud pattern. But you will need to perform the same cutting and welding on those.
