Have I gone crazy?

I just arrainged to buy a 396 V8. I had no plans to swap the engine that's in my truck.....what has come over me????

Is this normal?

*Update: came to my senses on the V8. No way to store it or make use of it. Good news for the next guy in line!

Re: Have I gone crazy?

Extremely normal. By the time you turn around twice you'll have enough "extra" parts to build another truck. Plus the older you get the easier it is to forget what you have already bought so you buy it AGAIN.

Re: Have I gone crazy?

Short answer with an if, long answer with a but.

If you are gonna use it: Not Crazy
You want to your truck to go fast someday but you are gathering parts to put everything together at once: Not Crazy

Neither of the 2 aforementioned conditions: Crazy

Re: Have I gone crazy?

Updated the OP. Came to my senses! The King's run a top-notch outfit. Letting a noob like me off the hook without a restocking fee. I had already mailed off the payment before I wised up. :-)

Thanks for the advice guys, I had gone a little crazy there for a moment!

That sounds very familiar...now I'm learning to inventory and make lists of the parts I need.

Re: Have I gone crazy?

Probably for the best. A big block is not for the faint of heart. There is something about the feeling of having your shoulders pushed through the seat foam that you will never get over.

Re: Have I gone crazy?

Hahaha. Seeing as I'm a skydiver and professional skier (um, ski instructor, ehhim) I should think my heart is anything but faint.

Just no room to store it and no know-how to install it. Maybe later. I hope the guy who gets it sends me a pic of how he uses it!

Re: Have I gone crazy?

heck, I bought a 454 LS-6 crate motor cause I thought it was a good deal at the time...I had over 5 grand in a vw motor that barely made 200 hp , so 3500 for 425 factory horse seemed like a bargain...figured it would go in a street rod eventually....many years later the 350 got tired,so now it lives in my truck...yep, i'm crazy

Re: Have I gone crazy?

No no your not crazy, that would make all of us crazy, pretty sure we are not, so my normal weekend cruiser is a 480 plus Hp big block with a 9" lift...just normal...right.
