Replacment seats...........

I tried a quick search and didn't really come up with a good answer. What seats are you guy swapping into these square body pick ups, for style & comfort. With this cold & snow I have been in my '78 plowing snow for way to long, sitting on the factory bench seat. I'm wondering what you guys have swapped in these trucks for comfort & style.....TIA

Re: Replacment seats...........

Ones from a 88-94 chevy are very common n comfy. I just did one from an 82 gmc. Was a lot better shape.

I'm searching for the same thing. I put 96 Siverado 60/40 in my 79 but it just was to close to the wheel, need to look at moving the column to make them feel right. I run an 8" bazooka behind the seat to, removing that would gain nearly an inch.

Re: Replacment seats...........

I've posted this a few times, but I used new honda odyssey take outs (hadicap conversion company pulls the 2nd and 3rd rows). The second rows fit great and have flip down middle seats. You will need to build your own seat brackets but if I can do it anyone can.

Re: Replacment seats...........

There isn't that much to see once they are mounted. You see a little of the side. I cut a piece of sheet metal to clean up the sides.

How much headroom do you lose with those take out seats? How does the seat belt arrangement work? Looks good, and just up the road a piece from me.

Re: Replacment seats...........

Thanks guys, appreciate the ideas. At 6ft+ tall(& a gut, lol) I can't loose much room from the factory bench but would like something more comfortable for those long snow plowing days & it wouldn't hurt if it looked good to . I do like those rear Honda seats & it shows I need to widen my search of possible donor vehicles! With the odd floor pan these trucks have, seems like making brackets will have to be part of the swap. THANKS AGAIN!!!

You have to be careful with the brackets if you're tall. I'm 6'-4". The chevy seat belts bolt to the same spot as the honda ones. The Honda seat belts will be cut (it's something he said he had to do to sell them - liability thing I suppose).

The other cool thing is that they slide, recline, fold just as they did in the van. Makes the seats more comfortable for the family.

Re: Replacment seats...........

No, its not my company. I should've said there is a conversion company in Phoenix that pulls these seats. The guy I bought them from is on craigslist as well. These seats have become pretty popular in hot rods in Arizona because of how cheap they are selling these seats. Hope that helps

how do you think these would work in a single cab truck for room behind the seat? etc?
