Rear Bag Setup

Im in the process of back halfing my 68 and was wondering how to set up the bags and bars. I doing a 3 link like hales speed shop does. Do you set the bag up with it layed out or at ride height? Does it matter how long your lower bar is?

Re: Rear Bag Setup

The longer the lower bar, the less pinion change through the range of travel & the better the ride quality.

Placement of the bars is usually steered by logistics (what/where do you have room). Farther apart = increased stability. Same concept w/the placement of the bags.

I always plan & set-up my stuff @ ride heights. Laying out is not a concern for me. Low ride height & ride quality are so thats why I start from there. I also choose my component placement based on my ride height reference points as bag height & pressures are optimum @ certain dimensions (available from the bag/shock manufacturers).

If your top priority is to lay the frame rail, that would be your starting point for placement & selection of bags/shocks.

Building a small, high rpm engine with the perfect bore, stroke and rod ratio is very impressive.
