My brother bought that nice 1968 CST

My brother just bought that really nice 1968 CST that was on craigslist and was discussed on the board. I could not find the thread though, could any help me find it. He loves the truck, and will baby it, and drive it.

I'll have to get him to join the forum.

Very nice pickup. Funny in the description is says "never restored, has had one repaint 20 years ago"

Re: My brother bought that nice 1968 CST

^^^ Probably just being up front the truck was just painted, but nothing else messed with. Seen too many that "claim" it's restored, and actually it's just been sprayed lol. Tell your brother congrats!! That's a beautiful truck. Not big on white walls, but this actually looks good

Re: My brother bought that nice 1968 CST

Looks like one you touched, Rene. The truck was painted, not restored. Big difference. My '72 has been painted but never restored. If someone called a truck restored that was only painted I'd call them a liar.

Re: My brother bought that nice 1968 CST

Well to be fair - the entire truck was not restored. But yes, the paint was in fact restored.

re·store
rəˈstôr/
verb
past tense: restored; past participle: restored
bring back (a previous right, practice, custom, or situation); reinstate
return (someone or something) to a former condition, place, or position.

What word would you rather prefer? The paint was refreshed, redone. Same thing as restored. Not a big difference, at all.
I'd almost walk up to that line and say he just misspoke. The truck was PARTIALLY restored.
Now, it's up to you to determine if there's any bondo in there or other surprises. Or not.

Re: My brother bought that nice 1968 CST

Repaint. To restore paint would be to make old paint look new, or "bring back". I've seen people paint something and call it restored, which is far from the truth.

I'm jealous. This white truck looks way better than mine

Sweet truck!
And while I'm here I'll chime in and add me to the list that repaint and restore ain't the same thing.
Nobody says "I restored my paint", they say "I repainted my truck"

Re: My brother bought that nice 1968 CST

We're all right. The quality paint was restored to how it was new. potayto, potahto Partially restored. "I partially restored the truck by repainting it."
