V8/Power glide/ rearend ????

I want to keep my truck as close to original as possible but want it more highway friendly.
Will a sbc with a powerglide be a good combination with a 3.08 ratio instead of the 3.73. It's just a cruiser but not wanting to pull the two speed for an overdrive..... Thanks, Have a good Thanksgiving...

Re: V8/Power glide/ rearend ????

I think 3.73 to 3.08 would drop my 70 mph rpm by about 500...

The 3.08 should help your highway cruising a lot, but you'll lose some low end umph. Powerglide should do just fine otherwise. I plan on getting my rear changed to a 3.08 also to make it a bit more highway friendly.

I have run powerglides "real hard" in my youth and they took being hooked to 283/307/327 without any issues. AT350 just gives you the extra in-between gear.
