Converting my 55 to 4x4 with 1985 Blazer parts anyone grafted the front frame

Looking and measuring a 1985 blazer frame. Has anyone cut the front section and grafted it to the 55 frame? Newton the forum but built a 1954 chevy 4x4 and a 1952 Dodge M37 with a Cummins 4x4 so not shy about the work.

Are talking fullsize or S10 and a 55 first or second series?

1955 second series and full size blazer. Frame width is same at the front cab mounts and could be grafted there. It also is about the same height and you get the steering box and sway bar also already in place. Motor mounts and trans, shock mounts all ready located.

Should be a straight forward cut and weld. The only problem I see is possible the floor pan. On the 4x4's in the 80's the floors had a high hump floor pan to accommodate the transfer case and linkages. The frame also has a kick up around the engine crossmember, this may raise the engine & transmission a little over stock. Of corse this can easily be taken care of with the use of a body lift.

The first is on a Dodge chassis and the second is on a '77 Chevy pickup chassis. The Chevy truck frame is very close to your Blazer.

Thanks guys, in the last one I did I used a wheelbarrow for the hump in the floor. My goal is to keep the truck as low as possible. When I did my 54 Chevy I used a Jeep grand wagoner frame but had to move the engine back. The Dana 44 were narrower and it looked stock. Drove that truck everywhere towing my car trailer. Will keep measuring and reading. Thanks again it's a great site.
