Stay Safe (just a little gross)
Was breaking up an old metal fence and slipped.
21 stitches later and all is well. It wasn't too deep but the wife insisted I go. Kim |

Re: Stay Safe (just a little gross)
Lucky your 1/2 inch from some big veins/arteries that will make blood squirt 8 or 10 feet. That is before you pass out from blood loss after a minute or so.

Re: Stay Safe (just a little gross)
It was only deep at the beginning and end. Being under my sleeve I didn't notice it until some blood was running down my arm. The metal was as sharp as a razor and it happened real quick so there was no pain to speak of.

Your new mantra....I LOVE PAIN, I LOVE PAIN, I LOVE PAIN....REPEAT.
Get a tattoo to accentuate it. Blood droplets, razor knife, evil clown face etc.

Re: Stay Safe (just a little gross)
In keeping with the public safety announcement theme: "BE CAREFUL ON LADDERS", too!
Fell from about 20 ft on Feb 28. Two surgeries, 12 weeks in a removeable brace, two more weeks in a soft splint. 40 stitches after the first surgery; 56 stitches after the second. I'm on my second week of physical therapy with more to go. K

Re: Stay Safe (just a little gross)
That's a hell of a lot worse than mine.
I have vertigo so I hate being on anything more than a foot off the floor. Hope everything heals up fine. Kim |

Re: Stay Safe (just a little gross)
I was on a ladder clearing ice dams. Up at the highest point, and then fell to the deck. (I knocked that railing loose).
At any rate - that ruined my day (...and my spring...). K

Re: Stay Safe (just a little gross)

I always think of my dad when I see something like that. He had hardware in his back to contol a herniated disc; I overheard him ask the doctor one time"....how much did those screws cost? I coulda' got 'em out of Chevrolet for nuthin!!" (lol) K

Re: Stay Safe (just a little gross)
Lost a good friend about a year ago to a fall from a roof. After the funeral i told my wife i'm buying a harness, rope, etc, first rate stuff, and proceeded to modify my roof and install "D" rings just under my ridge vent. Permanently there forever with a dedicated rope i install in fall as my lifting rope to be able to get to the "D" rings safely. My family appreciates seeing the bright chevrolet orange "D" rings when they pull into the driveway! I shovel my whole roof at least once a winter. Seen snowfall equal to 24"' in 24 hours!
