Simple Question - Brake Line Chassis Fitting

I purchased Wilwood Flexline 220-11372 to pair up with my Wilwood D52 calipers. I opened an existing hole in the frame to 5/8" for the chassis fitting to go through and it doesn't look like I will be able to fit the clip onto the fitting to secure it.

Do you think it will work if I just pound that clip in? (It doesn't look like it will but I'm not sure if these are suppose to bend etc)

I was also thinking about taking a cutoff wheel and 'thinning' the frame around the hole (inboard side).

Any thoughts or guidance is appreciated, Thanks!

Here is an outboard picture just for routing reference:

A correct size snap ring might be your answer

Re: Simple Question - Brake Line Chassis Fitting

Maybe you could chuck the fitting in the lathe and remove a little material from the face of the hex, exposing more groove. That would be preferable to thinning the frame. Also, a circlip is thinner than the deformed fork type keeper, which may buy you some space. You can also "tune up" those fork style clips with a BFM to flatten the ramps so they enter the slots.

grab a 2" bantem motor and debur the hole for sure. The clips are avalable at local auro parts stores go get a couple and try and flatten one with a hammer till almost flat and see if it will work. Another option instead of a snap ring would be an E-clip if you can find the correct size.

Re: Simple Question - Brake Line Chassis Fitting

I really appreciate the help here, all great ideas. I learn something new with each task.

I went to Napa and they had Snap Ring, E-Clip #1012 and they ended up working perfectly.

I am happy with the length of the flex line (16"), the Porterbuilt Arms are Standard Length for anyone going through the same.
