Odd question about brakes

I am redoing my drum brakes in the rear. All new hardware (wheel cylinders, shoes, drums, etc.) I was only able to do one side. Yes, I bled the brakes afterward with the assistance of a helper.

Would I have any difficulties driving my truck with only one side redone? Other side has not been touched, I ran out of time.

Thank you!

Re: Odd question about brakes

You should be fine. If it was the front you might have an issue with the truck pulling when braking but unlikely you will notice any issues on the rear. The worst thing I could imagine would be one side on the rear locking up a little until broken in. Unlikely though. All my opinion of course and I haven't earned much cred on this board yet

Re: Odd question about brakes

I have after-market disks in the fronts.

The one side I did, the wheel cylinder has been leaking for quite some time. I just ran out of daylight and patients. Will redo other side tomorrow after work.

I will find out soon enough in the morning if it brakes normally.

Re: Odd question about brakes

For a days' ride I don't see any fundamental problems. As long as your worn side isn't well overdue there shouldn't be any issues. Fortunately drums are easily adjusted.

Yeah. One day should be OK if you remain mindful one side may lock up first. Do the other side ASAP. Hope you did have the drums resurfaced when installing new shoes. I am continually surprised how many people think it is not needed.
