1948 gmc 930

I've been interested in starting a new project. I really like the 900 series GMC trucks. I'm wondering if anyone can tell me how hard one of these would be to find in California and what I should expect to pay?

They are probably around more than one might think, but unless you would be real lucky, it will probably take a real good thorough search to find the right one and at a good deal to boot.

Price would depend on Condition. I would say anywhere from $500 and up.

Where would you suggest I start my search?

Anywhere really. Big Truck Forum Sites, Online Antique Truck Sales, Local and Regional Truck Shows, Local and Regional Newspapers and Magazines, etc, even Craigslist. Also word-of-mouth works great. At Trucks Shows, etc, just get friendly with people and ask around. You would be surprised what a lot of people have behind the barn, lol.

Swing by Tractor Supply and get an issue, or subscribe to Wheels of Time, the magazine of the American Truck Historical society. Occasionally one will pop up for sale , but I think your best chance of finding something useable would be from any of the western states.

A friend in western New York just bought a rare 900 with integral sleeper that I tried to get for 20-25 years . It'll need plenty of work as it was cut behind the back of cab to make a direct drive power unit to run a sawmill .
This one was retired in the Catskills and is the only fat cab with integral sleeper known to exist .
