86 Jeep j10

Just finished the engine swap and repaint of my wife's J10. Been about an 18 month project that I did myself (with a break over the colder months last winter) and really enjoyed the work, it was a fun project and turned out pretty good, she's pretty happy with it! I replaced the tired old 360 with a 5.3 engine and transmission from an 02 GMC Yukon. Replaced the old t-case with an NP241 and the rest of the driveline has had all bearings replaced and oils changed. A/C, tilt cruise, tow switch and it all works.

After the swap was finished I sanded everything down to bare metal and put a nice coat of SPI epoxy on it and finished off the project with SPI pure white base and Universal clear. Body was rust free but had a lot of metal finishing on the bedsides that took awhile but it turned out pretty nice and has a minimal amount of filler.

Didn't do this myself, one of just a few things I didn't personally do.

She should be good for another 30 years I would think!

I am in pain over whether to get a truck or a Wagoneer. Love these FSJ.
Be checking out your build!

The wagoneers are cool too, the old trucks are getting hard to find in good condition, they all rust worse than our old Chevys do and new replacement sheetmetal is almost non existent.

That turned out great. I love those trucks and Wagoneers, and the first gen Cherokees. Rust has really taken a crazy amount them though, I don't know when the last time I saw one that was rust free in person.

Re: 86 Jeep j10

There is a nice Wagoneer right down the road from me that has not moved out of the garage in 20 years ,I would love to have a chance at it.
